Features and uses:

Salvia Jamensis is a shrub obtained from the crossing of Salvia microphylla and Salvia greggii. The "Melen" variety has recently been patented in Europe and stands out for its compact and regular bearing.

It is a deciduous shrub formed by many thin branches that are covered with intense green leaves, small in size, which give the touch a delicious aroma that recalls the scent of Salvia officinalis.
The small flowers develop on the terminal part of the branches, creating a cream-yellow cloud with some pinkish tinge. The flowering appears from late spring until autumn.

Salvia Jamensis Melen prefers positions in full sun or partial shade, better if protected from strong and cold winds. Excellent also in maritime areas with saltiness. It adapts well on fertile and absolutely well drained soils, because any stagnant water could damage the root system. Furthermore it is not a variety subject to pests.

The qualities that characterize the Salvia jamensis Melen make it perfect for planting pots and planters to be placed on balconies and terraces, but architects and landscape designers can give vent to creativity using this essence even in mixed flower beds or borders.
