Features and uses:

Abelia grandiflora Sherwood is an ornamental shrub belonging to the family of Caprifoliaceae, originating in Asia. In China and Japan is a shrub growing spontaneously.

The leaves are small, pointed, of dark green color and develop on reddish, not very large stems. The lower branches of the Abelia gr. Sherwoodi tend to be upholstered, while the middle branches grow in height, slightly treading the tips; this union allows the plant to have a beautiful round shape. The foliage is considered semi-persistent, since it depends heavily on the climate in which it lives and the winds to which the shrub is exposed.

The white, slightly scented florals stand out among the red brates and among the dark foliage; are small in size, bell-shaped and appear in summer, reaching maximum flowering in August-September. Thereafter a small, slightly woody fruit develops inside which contains a single seed.

Abelia Sherwood looks like a very compact bush, so it is perfect for making flower boxes, borders or in a mixed bowl along with other essences. It is easy to maintain, so it is great even for those who do not have the "green thumb" or have no time to devote to the garden.

This shrub tolerates the urban smog very well, so you can think of inserting Abelia gr. Sherwoodii in public green projects, for hedges and borders along sidewalks or in flower beds near the road arteries.

There are many varieties within the Abelie species, Greggio Vivai produces: Abelia Auderose, Abelia Petite Garden®, Abelia Pinky Bell's, Abelia Sparkling Silver®
